How to Choose Your Wedding Videographer

Tagged: , , , , , , ,

There are several things to consider when choosing your wedding videographer. Things that go beyond the budget. Your budget is your base but it shouldn’t be the only thing you consider. Below are a few steps to ensuring you find the perfect videographer for you!

Talk to Your People

Someone you know has been married recently and had their wedding filmed. This could be a cousin, a friend, a friend of a friend or your cousin’s friend. Talk to them! Ask them about their experience. If it was awesome, ask for their Videographer’s contact info and skip ahead to Step 3.

Utilize the Inter-webs

If you don’t have a personal connection to someone, google them. Check out social media. Find a videographer in your area and watch their videos/films. When you find one whose work speaks to your soul and [ideally] brings you to tears, you have found your videographer.

Reset Your Expectations

This is the most important step. You must realize that your wedding video will not be the same as your friends. It will be amazing because it’s of your wedding day, but it won’t be the same. That’s okay! You don’t want your video to be identical to someone else’s. You want it to be unique and share your story.

Meet With Them

When you are ready to connect with the videographer, send them a message and set up a time to talk with them. Face to face is ideal! Most wedding experts love to meet over a coffee or tea (or a beer). If meeting in person isn’t possible, talk to them over the phone or Skype/FaceTime. This is your chance to ask questions and get to know them. After all, you want to surround yourself with people you actually like on your wedding day.

Money, Money, Money, Money!

If they are a great match and they have a package that suits you, then what are you waiting for? Book them!
